Company Profile
For a better understanding of the care and commitment that Raja Foods and the SWAD brand offers its customers, it helps to know a little bit about the origins of our company and our plans for the future. Here’s a short summary of where we started, where we are, and where we’re going.
Indian Cultural Profile
Indian Cultural Profile At Raja Foods, we’re committed to developing a deeper appreciation for the Indian heritage and culture that is the source of our line of delectable foods items. From our rich language to traditional customs, this review of the Indian cultural profile will educate you on what makes our ethnicity so special.
Distinguished Beginnings and Brighter Futures
The humble beginnings of Raja Foods originated as the procurement division for a large chain of Indian grocery stores. In early 1990, Raja experienced significant growth to the degree that we began our own company. Since that historic decision, Raja has grown into a 60,000 square foot warehouse with business surpassing the $140 million mark. We’ve been growing at a 25% annual rate since that time.
Raja imports food products such as rice, spices, and mango juice from such exotic locales such as England, Spain, India, Pakistan, China and Australia. These products are received in our warehouse in Skokie, Illinois and then distributed across the United States to such carriers as K-mart and Dominick’s grocery stores, Indian ethnic stores, and a collection of distributors and wholesalers.
The effectiveness of Raja’s distribution network has enabled us to use that network to sell our own brands, including Patel’s and SWAD. Companies experiencing this level of growth always have plans for the future, and Raja is no different. The future of Raja Foods is as bright as the Indian sun.
